Popular Golf Betting Tournaments

Golf is a fun sport to watch, and it's even more fun to bet on. There are various popular tournaments for punters to enjoy a bet on golf.

The Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup happens every two years, with the USA and European teams competing for the highly coveted title. The venues can be in Europe or the US, switching up the home advantage and adding a thrilling factor to golf betting.

The PGA Tour

The PGA Tour involves different courses and events, mainly throughout the US. It is widely considered the premier tour in professional golf, featuring many of the world's best golfers, culminating in the Tour Championship at the end of the year.

The Majors

The Majors include four championships, with the US Open being the most challenging for players, while the Open Championship is considered the most prestigious. The other two are the Masters, held at the famous Augusta, and the PGA Championship.

DP World Tour

The DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour, operates mainly in Europe but has events worldwide. The BMW International Open and European Open are some of the highlights, culminating in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai at the end of the year. With so much activity on this tour, bettors and fans have a lot to look forward to.

LIV Golf

Introduced just a few years ago, these 54-hole events attract many top golfers worldwide. The tour allows bettors to bet on their favourite golfers as they enjoy their live performances in a unique team format.

Popular Golf Betting Markets

For bettors who are just getting into golf betting, here is an overview of the betting markets available for golf:

This is the most popular and least complicated bet on golf. It simply predicts the outright winner of the golf tournament, and this market is available pre-tournament and throughout the action.

Each-way betting involves placing two bets, one on a player to win the tournament and the other on them to finish in the top 10 or top 5. It is usually a safe way of betting because you still have a chance if your chosen golfer does not win the tournament but performs well.

Prop bets involve a more specific way of betting where you place bets on things like the nationality of the winning golfer, the number of birdies, hole-in-ones, and even predicting the winning score.

In head-to-head matchups, you can bet on which player will perform better than the other in a specific round. This type of betting is categorised into 2-ball betting and 3-ball betting. The former involves two golfers, while the latter involves three. In match bets, you can also bet on who finishes with the lowest score among the competing golfers.

Top Finish Bets

As the name suggests, these bets are all about betting on a golfer to finish in the top 20, 10, or 5. It is one of the less risky bets in golf betting, but keep in mind that ties could affect your golf odds.

Golf Betting Tips

Golf betting is mostly straightforward, but having a few tips up your sleeve makes it even better. Here are some tips we have developed over the years to help you make the most of golf betting at NordicBet.

Take advantage of live odds. We offer live golf betting odds at NordicBet, allowing you to adjust your bets as the game progresses.

Research player form. It is essential to analyse the performances of various golfers to predict how they will perform in the future. This allows you to pick the right bets and golfers.

Check the course-performance history. Some golfers do better on specific courses and less well on others. It's relevant to have this information before placing your bets.

Study weather patterns. Different weather elements could affect how golfers perform, which, in turn, could affect your golf bets. Check the weather forecast ahead of the game to help you make the right bets.

Consider the key statistics. Statistics like putting average, driving distance and accuracy, and greens in regulation could help you make the best betting decisions. Use these statistics to determine which golfers are worth a bet on golf at NordicBet.
